History of Katyayni Mata Mandir

Katyayni Mata Temple is situated at dhamhara railway station at Khagadiya district in the banks of Koshi river. 

Katyani bhagwati durga is known for her six form of Maa Durga as per said in saptsati .It is to be said that the saint katyayan by his penances made durga happy then after goddess appeared and blessed him and said I will do emerge from your house as katyayni and kill demon king Mahisasur . Later in the earth to destroy the wicked and the devotees to borrow the name appeared katyayani .The second most important thing is that Maa Katyani is also one of 51 shakti peeths. Here Maa katyayani’s right arm was cut down .Right hand always give blessing to the devotees present here. There is also huge silver made hand kept near have been built by the devotees of Maa Katyani but still ancient hand is sacred first among devotees. Maa katyayni temple is nestled between the Koshi and Ganga River in the lap of nature. Here people come from far away to worship this holy goddess and understand them fateful. In front of the main temple of Maa Katyayni there is a temple of Shri Pad Ji. It is said that Shri Pad Ji got the first view of Maa Katyayni. Even today the hymns of Shri Pad Ji can listened inside the temple. There is the Statue of Shri Radha Krishna at the eastern door and on the western with two lions there is the statue of Maa Sherawali in the Mithila style increases the grace value. The biggest problem here is the road to visit the temple of Maa Katyayni, devotees placing their life in danger to visit Maa Katyayni. Famous singer chaila  Bihari sitting on the fast with their supporters to grow Katyayani temple as a tourist destination.
